Mother’s Day is the one time of year when Mom is likely to be OK with attempts to shower her with attention and pampering, rather than the other way around. If you’re looking for the perfect way to show her how much she means this Mother’s Day (it’s May 14 this year), here are some suggestions – a few unique and a few tried-and-true – to say, “Thanks, Mom.”

Of body and soul

Combine a love of yoga and her love for her children with Mom & me yoga at Brewing Bliss Yoga. Crafted to allow lots of hugs and connection along with a yoga sequence, there are Mother’s Day classes aimed at youngsters and teens.

The personal touch

If a formal brunch doesn’t suit you and the weather looks to co-operate, why not pack a picnic lunch  and sit among the tulips at Dow’s Lake and perhaps take in a tour to learn about Ottawa’s deep connection to and history involving tulips. You can get tour information here.

Or, if you’re not a fan of tulips, take that picnic lunch up to Gatineau Park and enjoy a stroll or a hike through the forest.

Tea for two (or more)
